Calling All Detectives starred Paul Barnes “man of a thousand voices” as Detective Jerry Browning. The only other man on the set was the sound effects man. The original series was part quiz program, where local affiliates called listeners and awarded them prizes if they were able to decipher the mystery before the program ended.
